Let’s face it, Super Bowl weekend is one of the most highly anticipated events of the year. Football fans from all over the world make plans in advance to determine where they’ll be to watch the iconic gridiron spectacle That also holds true for restaurant establishments. They too plan ahead for the big game, by beefing up their staff and using all the marketing strategies to promote their latest line of delectable gametime meals. For the managers, nothing would be more rewarding than having a full house of screaming patrons, spending large wads of cash and having a good time with a sense of purpose.

That’s why, the legendary DMV based nonprofit Student Athletes For Educational Opportunities (SAFEO), Inc., and its charity partners the Starbucks Foundation and the  Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission chose Super Bowl weekend to bring attention to an important sports related issue, and to offer an opportunity for restaurants  throughout the DMV to enhance their brand while making a real difference.

“Eat to Defeat Concussion” Awareness Super Bowl Weekend. A fundraising event dedicated to raising awareness about sports related concussion and the physical and mental health anguish it causes our young athletes. Many may remember that Sunday, September 25, 2022  when Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa  hit his head on the field and staggered to walk back to the huddle; only to be placed back on the field the following Thursday. Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)/concussion affects at least 3.8 million youth and professional athletes each year. And we need your help to keep this issue in the public’s eye and to establish a fund that supports the educational aspirations of those athletes who can no longer play sport.

Here’s how.
